Explore Scientific

In addition to the pursuit of perfection in optics and mechanics, innovation is one of the central features of this brand.
The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC brand was founded in 2008 by Scott W. Roberts and now offers a wide range of products for advanced amateur astronomers. The young brand can already be proud of impressive first launches, such as the first series eyepiece for astronomical telescopes with a 120° field of view. The reason for this high innovative strength is the experts behind the brand, who contribute their decades of experience, as well as the close cooperation with amateur astronomers all over the world.

Explore Scientific ASTRO R-LITE red light Flashlight
The ASTRO R-LITE red light flashlight is the ideal companion at night to read star charts or make adjustments to the equipment without losing the dark adaptation of the eyes. The ASTRO R-LITE offers 3 functions: Continuous light bright / Continuous light dark / Flashing. The large diffusing lens results in a very large and evenly illuminated light cone, which can also be adjusted by a sliding mechanism. By using a power-saving LED lamp, the battery life (1 x AA-LR6) is up to 100 hours. Of course, the robust lamp housing made of aluminium is splash-proof according to IPX4 and therefore particularly well suited for outdoor applications. The side cutouts on the front of the ASTRO R-LITE provide a 360° signal function. The 50 cm long carrying strap with quick coupling and an extra belt clip included in the scope of delivery ensure that the flashlight is always quickly at hand. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 2" CLS Nebula Filter
Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum. These colours - in the case of the EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CLS nebula filter, above all the typical colours of mercury and high-pressure lamps, used in street lighting - are suppressed, but the emissions of deep-sky objects are allowed through. With a slightly brightened sky, some relatively bright deep-sky objects are practically invisible with a telescope, for example the large galaxy M101. Using this filter makes observation much easier. A must have for any visual amateur astronomer.  The CLS can also be used as a useful photographic filter - helping to improve the quality of your telescopic deep sky photos. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC nebula filters are delivered with an individual test report - so you can be sure of receiving high-quality filters.SPECIFICATIONS:eliminates disturbing light - e.g. from street lightingenables observation of faint deep sky objectsWHAT'S INCLUDED:1x nebula filter

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 82° Ar Eyepiece 11mm (1,25")
Explore Scientific 82° Series™ extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope. To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves. All 82° Series eyepieces are fully multi-coated and edge-blackened to produce maximum contrast.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 2" Variable Polarizing Filter
Universally usable variable polarizing filter with a  2" filter thread. This variable polarizing filter allows for a continuous adjustment of the image brightness. This is very helpful to level strong differences in contrast of different observation objects individually. Particularly for lunar and planetary observations but also for solar observations this filter prevents an outshining of details.Solar observations ONLY together with an adequate solar filter !!! Particularly when a Herschel wedge is used and with large objective lens apertures the use of the variable polarizing filter can reduce the brightness of the observation object to a confortable level. The large adjustment range of 40% to 1% light transmission and the neutral grey filter effect create a comfortable and unadulterated image. The handling is very simple. The desired filtering level is set by turning the two sides of the housing against each other.A 2.0" filter thread on both sides (female/male) allow for the simultaneous use of additional colour filters.FEATURESvariable polarizing filterindividually adjustable image brightnessmade from high-quality optical glassblack anodized aluminium housing2.0" filter thread on both sidesSCOPE OF DELIVERYpolarizing filterprotective box

Explore Scientific ReflexSight LED Finder
A new take on a classic design, superior to the usual red dot finder - which will fit many telescopes and larger binoculars.Explore Scientific ReflexSight™ LED projection viewfinder, uses proven functionality with versatility, while having enhanced performance features.Looking through this viewfinder shows multiple deep red target circles projected against the night sky.  Both eyes can be used for quick and easy star hopping, in order to target objects in your telescope. The big advantage is that you can see the entire night sky without magnification and not just a small section of the sky, as you would through a magnified finderscope.  This makes Goto aligning quick and easy and speeds up acquisition of targets.New "Multi-Dot" target circle pattern (in standard circle diameters of 4.0 degrees, 2.0 degrees and 0.5 degrees), prevents blocking of stars within the field of view.  Using the widths of the projected circles as reference points allows those users with non-goto telescopes to easily work out the location of non-visible targets, with reference to more easily visible stars.  The projection screen size is a generous 55 x 35 mm.Multiple mounting options. The Explore Scientific ReflexSight™ LED projection viewfinder's base fits standard "Vixen-style dovetail" finder bases, allowing the user to attach this finder to a wife array of commercially-available telescopes, without modifying the telescope itself. A ¼ inch x 20G threaded adapter (photo tripod thread) is built into the finder base, allowing the finder to be attached to a variety of telescopes, via piggyback camera adapters with a photo tripod threaded hole.Functional design and intuitive use: the smooth housing, with no sharp corners, prevents snagging. Easily accessible battery compartment, taking 2x standard AAA alkaline batteries (not included), which power the frugal LED illuminator. The low power consumption of the LED lighting ensures a long operating time. Large, continuously adjustable brightness control with knurled knob head can be easily operated with gloves. Click the rotary switch to turn off completely. Rear-facing, tool-free three-point parallax knurled collimation knobs, again, easy to operate even with gloved hands, ensure you are well locked-on to the main optical axis of your telescope. The projection screen is coated, to minimise annoying reflections and allow you to concentrate on the finder's target and the night sky behind it.  Comes complete with screen and optics cover. The extremely compact design allows mounting even on small, lightweight telescopes - truly a finder for all!FEATURESReflexSight LED projection finder with deep red target circles Standard circle diameters 4.0 degrees, 2.0 degrees and 0.5 degreesProjection screen size: 55 x 35 mmFits standard Vixen-style dovetail finder shoes There is also a ¼ inch x 20G female photo tripod thread in the base Can be mounted via piggyback camera adapters etc. Operates on standard AAA batteries (not included) Smooth housing with no sharp corners, prevents snagging Comes complete with optics and screen cover Compact design and easily accessible battery compartment Large, continuously adjustable brightness control with knurled knob Click switch to turn off completely Tool-free three-point collimation parallax adjustment with easily accessible knurled knobs Can also be mounted on small and light telescopes WHAT'S INCLUDEDReflexSight LED projection finder

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 68° Ar Eyepiece 16mm (1,25")
With the introduction of the 68° Series we are pleased to make two important improvements in eyepiece manufacture, the first being 15 layer Enhanced Multi-layer Deposition (EMD™) coatings on all glass-to-air surfaces to gain maximum contrast, and waterproofing the eyepiece with the use of Argon gas purging instead of standard Nitrogen gas. Although Nitrogen is a fine choice that will last for many years, Argon is a larger molecule that maintains its protective properties over a wider range of temperatures, and is even more resistant to diffusion thereby further extending the protective waterproof environment of the eyepiece body. Through computer-optimized design, a careful selection of optical glasses, and enhanced multi-layer deposition coatings, the Explore Scientific 68° Series™ eyepieces produce long eye-relief and ensure high image-correction, a flat field, and high contrast across the entire image field. An excellent choice for those who make extended visual studies of detail with subtle variations of brightness, and for those who must wear glasses while observing. All 68° Series eyepieces are fully EMD (Enhanced Multi-Layer Deposition) coated and edge-blackened to produce superior contrast.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 2" H-Beta Nebula Filter
One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects bejond the solar systems enourmously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artifical light. The Explore Scientific H-beta filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emmission nebulae. Those objekcts glow in special colors, the so called emmission lines. Those emmission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen. The Explore Scientific H-beta nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the emmission line of the hydrogen can pass the filter. The result is astonoishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely empty without filters. In suburbian skies for example the horsehead nebula is almost not visible with a 300mm telescope. By using this filter you can see the nebula and its structures without problems. A must for every visual observer. The Explore Scientific nebula filters come with a individual test certificate - your guarantee to receive a premium filter.

One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects beyond the solar system enormously. Depending on the type of the celestial object, it is possible to dramatically increase the contrast by blocking annoying artificial light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter "zeros in" on the wavelengths of so-called emission nebulae. Those objects glow in special colours - their emission lines. Those emission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen at 486nm and 656nm, plus oxygen at 496nm and 501nm. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC nebula filter blocks all other colour wavelengths (and thereby nearly all of artificial light) and only the emission line of the hydrogen and oxygen can pass the filter. The result is astonishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely invisible from, without filters. In suburban skies, for example the Owl-nebula M97, the Veil-nebula NGC 6992 or even the bright Dumbell-nebula M27 are not clearly visible. Using this filter allows you to see nebulae and their structures in much finer detail. A must for every visual observer. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC EXOS-2 PMC-Eight GOTO Mount
THE PMC-EIGHT GOTO SYSTEM JUST AWARDED A SKY AND TELESCOPE HOT PRODUCT FOR 2018. The Explore Scientific EXOS2-GT with PMC-8 Electronics is quite unique and special. Most of the serious amateur mounts on the market today offer single processors. The PMC-8 electronics are extremely robust. They include a 2-Channel Multi-Processor Micro-controller with 8 CPUs that run independently and are completely deterministic in their behavior, thus the name PMC-8. Within this multi-processor system is a 64 Kbyte EEPROM Non-Volatile Memory bank used to store parameters; a Wireless Ethernet 10/100 with full IP function which permits operation from anywhere using a browser, ASCOM, or APP over the web or serial port; and Non-Volatile Memory used to store user selected parameters. The electronics also includes an Auto-Guide port (ST4 contact input) and features the only wireless ASCOM driver on the market. The belt driven system uses 2 timing pulleys (1-45 groove and 1-10 groove) with fiberglass re-enforced neoprene belt connected to a Nema11 bi-polar stepper .67 amps 12ncm motor then connected to the worm. Precise ball bearings in both axes ensures minimal backlash at all nine possible tracking speeds. The included battery pack (12 V) takes eight size "D" batteries. The head rests on a very tough and rigid stainless steel tripod with adjustable 2" legs from 26.8" to 42.5" and can support up to 28 lbs. of equipment. This system is all controlled from a tablet, notebook or desktop pc with 7" display and WIN8.1, WIN10+11, iOS or Android 4.4 with a beautiful full graphical user interface using our very own ExploreStars OpenGoto® Software. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC TELRAD Projection Finder Scope with base
The TELRAD viewfinder is a projection finder that can be installed on any telescope and makes it child's play to align the telescope with the starry sky.The TELRAD viewfinder is a practical alternative to classic optical viewfinders and illuminated red dot viewfinders. You can see the complete starry sky without magnification, and not just a small section as with a normal optical viewfinder. Against this background of the starry sky, three red luminous concentric rings are projected, with apparent diameters of 4 degrees, 2° and 0.5° in the sky. Move the telescope so that the object you are looking for is in the inner ring, and the telescope points in the right direction. Because the object you are looking for is inside the ring, it will not be irradiated like a normal illuminated red dot finder. The base of the TELRAD viewfinder is self-adhesive and can be mounted on all telescopic tubes from about 10cm diameter. The length of the base is about 18cm. This base remains on the telescopic tube, the TELRAD viewfinder itself can be removed or attached at any time by means of the attached quick coupling. The TELRAD is powered by two normal AA batteries (not included). There are star atlases, like the "Deep Sky Travel Atlas" from Oculum-Verlag, and planetarium programs for the PC, like the program "Stellarium", where the three rings of the TELRAD are already drawn or can be displayed around the interesting celestial objects. This makes finding these celestial objects a real walk.FEATURESTELRAD projection finderIlluminated rings of 4 degrees, 2° and 0.5° in the skySee the complete starry sky without magnificationEasy installation and useCan be installed on nearly every telescopesBase with quick release coupling included Powered by two AA batteries (not included) Very long battery life because of LED technologySCOPE OF DELIVERYTELRAD viewfinder with projector and battery compartment TELRAD base with quick-release coupling for the viewfinder Adhesive tape for attachment to telescope
