Product information "Vixen 1.25”/ 31.7 mm Star Diagonal"
This Vixen 90° mirrored Star Diagonal, with 1.25” / 31.7 mm nosepiece connection, makes observing objects higher up in the sky much more pleasant and also allows the user to revolve an eyepiece to a more comfortable observing position. This star diagonal is a good quality option and compatible with a large array of refractors and Cassegrain design instruments. It will accept 1.25” / 31.7mm eyepieces and accessories and also has a threaded nosepiece, into which can be fitted 1.25” filters, or Barlow elements, saving you the bother of having to keep swapping these when using different eyepieces. The inside of the diagonal is blackened to minimise internal reflections and light scatter and the body has a pleasingly well-engineered feel to it, without being too weighty.

The SLV eyepieces with high-quality lanthanum glass provide remarkably clear and high-contrast images of the night sky right to the edge of the field of view. The lanthanum elements almost completely eliminate chromatic aberration, producing a colour-neutral image right up to the edges. The lenses are also fully multi-coated for high light transmission.
The eyecup can be twisted up and down, making the eyepiece suitable for glasses wearers. The large exit pupil distance of 20 mm means that the eye does not become fatigued during longer periods of use, and the entire field of view can be seen clearly even when wearing glasses.
The eyepiece also features a standard 1.25" filter thread for colour and nebula filters. In addition, the insides of the eyepiece sleeves are fully blackened to reduce distracting reflections.

Adjusting your eyes to the dark surroundings is very important when making astronomical observations.
In dark areas, it is very difficult to use astronomical equipment without a suitable light.
With normal lights, however, the light intensity is more important than protecting your eyes against bright light.
Using these lights at night makes your pupils contract, which can make it difficult for your eyes to readjust to the darkness.
The SG-L01, our first astronomy LED lamp, featured a built-in red LED that provided a solution to this problem.
However, the red light did not offer optimal visibility. On our new astronomy LED light, the SG-L02, the LED lights produce warm light to improve visibility.
They also ensure that your eyes stay adapted to the dark.
The LEDs do not emit light in the sensitive range of 555 nm.
The brightness of the white light can be adjusted between 3 and 42 lumen, while the red light can be adjusted between 0.28 and 7.62 lumen.

The dovetail rail is manufactured according to the GP standard and therefore these Dobson telescope tubes can be used on any telescope mounting with the appropriate carrying capacity. With the introduction of the 68° Series we are pleased to make two important improvements in eyepiece manufacture, the first being 15 layer Enhanced Multi-layer Deposition (EMD™) coatings on all glass-to-air surfaces to gain maximum contrast, and waterproofing the eyepiece with the use of Argon gas purging instead of standard Nitrogen gas. Although Nitrogen is a fine choice that will last for many years, Argon is a larger molecule that maintains its protective properties over a wider range of temperatures, and is even more resistant to diffusion thereby further extending the protective waterproof environment of the eyepiece body.
Through computer-optimized design, a careful selection of optical glasses, and enhanced multi-layer deposition coatings, the Explore Scientific 68° Series™ eyepieces produce long eye-relief and ensure high image-correction, a flat field, and high contrast across the entire image field. Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets.The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum. These colours - in the case of the EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CLS nebula filter, above all the typical colours of mercury and high-pressure lamps, used in street lighting - are suppressed, but the emissions of deep-sky objects are allowed through. With a slightly brightened sky, some relatively bright deep-sky objects are practically invisible with a telescope, for example the large galaxy M101. Using this filter makes observation much easier.
