Vixen SXP2WL Equatorial Mount with Wifi
Vixen has developed a new generation of SX mounts with Wifi for demanding observers and astrophotographers. The SXP2WL mount is easily operated via a Wifi module using a smartphone or tablet. For user-friendly control of the mount, the free STAR BOOK Wireless app is available. This allows you to use practical celestial navigation functions such as automatic GoTo slewing to certain celestial objects easily via your smartphone or tablet. Since the power consumption of the traditional LCD screen (STAR BOOK TEN) is eliminated, the power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%. This enables astronomical observations and astrophotography over longer periods.By selecting the desired celestial object from a list, it will automatically slew into the telescope's field of view and tracking begins. A previously existing STAR BOOK TEN controller can also be used with this mount without any issues. Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SXP2WL sets a new standard in performance and precision in the Vixen mount family. The axis cross of the SXP2 mount has a photographic payload of 17 kg and weighs just 13.3 kg, making it ideal for mobile observations. Additionally, the motors located in the lower part of the mount serve as counterweights. As a result, the mount requires fewer weights for balancing. On the SXP2 mount, larger ball bearings are used than in previous models to increase accuracy and payload capacity. The mount housing also features a greater material thickness. To make the polar block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped into a fork. The SXP2 mount in detail Stronger mount housingOn the SXP2 mount, larger ball bearings are used than in previous models to increase accuracy and payload capacity. The mount housing also features greater material thickness. To make the polar block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped into a fork. Very precise tracking with P-PEC functionThe SXP2 mount is delivered with the modern STAR BOOK TEN controller. It offers you the P-PEC function for particularly precise tracking. The term 'PEC' stands for 'Periodic Error Correction.' The system corrects mechanical errors that cause periodic errors in the gear systems. The SXP2 equatorial mount provides a P-PEC function derived from the PEC function. The P-PEC function saves your correction records even after the mount's power is turned off. This means you don’t have to re-enter the data each time, allowing for faster operation and more accurate tracking. Quiet belt drive system with minimal play In conventional motor drive systems of equatorial mounts, gears are used, which are driven by the motor. However, this design has the disadvantage that a certain amount of play occurs between the gears. To avoid the inaccuracies caused by this, the SXP2 mount uses a belt drive system. This significantly reduces both gear play and drive noise. In addition, the device responds more quickly when corrections need to be made. 16 bearings The mechanical parts of the SXP2 mount contain a total of 16 bearings. A set of tapered roller bearings is used for the RA axis to provide more stability for more precise tracking. Stable altitude block for alignment The SXP2 mount uses the same fork as the heavier AXJ mount. This new construction enables quick and stable latitude adjustment. Simple and precise polar alignment via reference stars The 6x20 polar finder is already pre-installed. This allows you to adjust the polar alignment (for both the northern and southern hemispheres). The polar finder offers a variable illuminated reticle with an automatic shut-off function. The brightness can be adjusted in 8 steps, allowing you to tailor it to your individual needs. Additionally, the polar finder is equipped with direct alignment using three reference stars and can achieve an accuracy of up to 3 arc minutes. Variable mount head The mount head has a diameter of 35 mm and eight threaded holes for M8 screws, arranged at 45-degree intervals. An optional accessory plate can be attached directly or in combination with an optional mounting block for dovetail plates. Additionally, the threaded holes on the mount head allow the use of mounting rails from other manufacturers. ATTENTION: For mounting Vixen standard dovetail rails, the X000266 adapter is also required. Combination of innovative, elegant design and user-friendly operation The stable, rigid mount body with very precise tracking has been further optimised by the P-PEC function. This makes the SXP2 a highly precise and easy-to-use mount that will delight every astrophotographer and observer. Special motor placement for fewer counterweights The heavy RA and DEC motor units are housed in the lower part of the declination, so the centre of gravity of the axis cross lies beneath the RA and DEC axes. As a result, the declination body acts as a counterweight. The flat mount head also allows the mount to be balanced with significantly fewer counterweights. Retractable counterweight bar The counterweight bar is made of solid stainless steel and has a diameter of 20 mm. It can be used with all counterweights from the SX and GP mount series. The counterweight bar is housed in the declination body. Accessory shoe For simple and quick polar alignment, the #35511 Polar Meter can be slid onto this shoe. Latitude adjustment The latitude can be adjusted between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium, and low latitudes). The Vixen Wifi adapter in detail The Vixen Wifi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. With the free STAR BOOK Wireless smartphone app, you can navigate the sky without any cables. The app transforms your mobile device into a controller for the equatorial mount in no time. The response delay of the mount, often considered the greatest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable with wired solutions. Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controllers with LCD monitors The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, allowing for longer observations compared to traditional wired controllers such as the STAR BOOK TEN. Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN controller The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured similarly to the STAR BOOK TEN controller. Depending on the star chart settings, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Simply tap on a celestial object from the object list to start GoTo. The mount will automatically move to the target and place it in the telescope's field of view. All the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN remain available to you. Comfortable operation While looking through the telescope, you can control the mount by swiping on the star map in the app. Since there are no buttons, you simply glide your finger over the star map to comfortably operate the mount. Extensive astronomical data included This includes data for well-observed celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, as well as the Sun, Moon, planets, comets, and dwarf planets. High-precision alignment By aligning with one or two stars, you already achieve quite accurate positioning of the mount. Aligning with three or more stars allows for high-precision alignment of the mount, suitable for high magnifications. The objects will then be approached exactly and centered in the telescope's field of view. The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is turned off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after an observation, without moving it, you can start the next observation with the same settings through automatic installation. Custom settings The app offers various custom settings, as in the STAR BOOK TEN controller, such as gear backlash compensation, night mode in red, autoguider, and variable GoTo speed and LED brightness. You can also set the time for the reversal of the telescope tube (Meridian Flip) as desired. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from flipping over.Important information Not usable with old SX mounts that use the old blue Star Book. Technical information about the Wifi module 32-bit CISC processor with 120 MHz The unit is connected to the mount via a D-SUB 9-pin connector, as with the STAR BOOK TEN. It features a 6-pin, 6-wire modular plug for external autoguider operation. Vixen VSD90ss Astrograph
Fast 90 mm high-performance astrograph for demanding astrophotographers and observers with 5 lens elements in 5 groups. Due to the complex optical structure with five lens groups and five elements (quintuplet), including two SD (Super ED) lenses and an ED lens (Extra-low Dispersion) , a virtually aberration-free optical system was created. This revolutionary astrograph is compatible with a full-frame digital DSLR or an even larger 44x33 mm camera. The 90 mm astrograph with fast aperture ratio delivers exceptionally sharp, high-contrast and small point stars from the centre to the corners of the field of view. In addition, it is also ideal for visual observation with a very large field of view but also for planetary observation with high magnification. The VSD90ss is designed so that there is a "long peak range" in the adjustment accuracy of the sharpness, so that photographers can always achieve satisfactory results in astrophotography. Even if the focus is not quite precise, round and sharp stars are still shown throughout the entire image field. Illumination without vignetting In most cases, an astrograph also produces optical vignetting (a gradual decrease in light rays towards the edge of the image) This is mainly caused by rear lenses being shaded by the front lenses. Because of this darkening, it is relatively normal for the photographer to have to further edit the image after taking the picture and also have to do some additional so-called flats before taking the picture. To solve this problem, the VSD90ss uses wide aperture lenses in the rear elements, securing over 90 % of the light volume at the edge of the 60 mm image circle. Since the light intensity is uniform throughout the entire image field of the VSD90ss, there is no need for complex technology to prevent edge darkening. The VSD90ss is coated with the most modern coatings of extremely high reflectivity. These coatings have been specifically developed to optimize the properties of each individual lens element without degrading contrast and light intensity across multiple lenses. Numerous gradations of light bring beautiful point-like stars into the image field The low optical vignetting ensures sufficient illumination and thus eliminates the asymmetric flare caused by bright, diffraction-limited stars. It prevents stars at the edge of the 60 mm image circle from exhibiting deformations such as comets, astigmatism or coma. Since the illumination of the image field is relatively similar from the center to the edge of the image, you can expect excellent star imaging. Please note: *Depending on the recording system used, mechanical vignetting can still occur due to the camera body or incorrect adapters. 96.7% Strehl for impressive visual observations The VSD90ss offers a flattened large field of view with a low magnification wide angle eyepiece. Even with a high-quality wide-field eyepiece with a large field of view, you can get sharp images of stars in the entire field of view when visually observing! In the centre of the field of view, a Strehl intensity of an impressive 96.7% is achieved at visible wavelengths. This Strehl ratio exceeds that of the SD81SII apochromat at 95.7%, which is known for its excellent optical properties, and this also works excellently when observing the moon and planets at high magnification. The versatile large and stable focuser The VSD90ss has a large focuser with a diameter of 87.5 mm to make optimal use of the large illumination field of 60 mm. With the large extension that is compatible with many accessories, it is perfect for astrophotography up to large format or 35 mm full frame DSLR cameras. Thanks to its precise manufacturing, it is also suitable for very heavy cameras without tipping. The precision locking lever of the eyepiece extension The focuser's extension tube has a locking lever that holds the extension tube firmly in position even when using heavy cameras such as large format cameras or CCD cameras with a large sensor. The locking lever clamps the rack gear to the extension barrel so that the viewing angle or focus on your camera does not shift. Compatible with motor driven focusers An optional two-speed motor focuser (not included) is available for the VSD90ss to provide sensitive focusing. An EAF (Electronic Automatic Focuser) from ZWO or equivalent can also be retrofitted. Optional VSD Reducer for even faster results The tried and tested optional VSD reducer, which was also used on the predecessor, the VSD 100, is also compatible with the VSD90ss. The photographer gets even faster results in astrophotography with an aperture ratio of 1:3.9. Vixen SXD2WL Equatorial GoTo Mount with Wifi
Vixen has developed a new generation of SX mounts for demanding observers and astrophotographers. The SXD2WL mount is simply operated via a Wifi module with a smartphone or tablet. By controlling the mount with your smartphone using the free STAR BOOK Wireless app, you can easily use sky navigation functions such as automatic GoTo panning of celestial objects via your smartphone or tablet. By eliminating the power consumption of the conventional LCD (STAR BOOK TEN), the power consumption on the mount is reduced by up to 20%, thus enabling longer astronomical observation and astrophotography. When the desired celestial object is selected from a list, it is automatically panned into the telescope's field of view and tracking begins. An existing STAR BOOK TEN controller can also be used on this mount without any problems. Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SXD2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family. With a photographic load capacity of 15 kg, the axis cross of the mount weighs just 9.2 kg making it ideal for mobile observations. In addition, the motors mounted in the lower part of the mount also serve as a counterweight, so the mount requires fewer weights for balancing. The SXD2 mount in detail Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system At the heart of the SXD2 are the precision stepper motors, which offer better performance and response than previous models. The micro-step motion control system offers powerful and yet very smooth drive characteristics, which are given both in fine movements and in fast pans. Built-in bearings The bearings of the RA and DEC axes and the worm shafts have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. As a result, the motors move much more smoothly than in previous models. High-precision worm gears High-precision processing technologies eliminate worm gear errors. The edges of the two worms and worm wheels are particularly smooth, enabling very precise tracking. Declination axis as counterweight The solid motor units are installed in the lower part of the declination axis so that the center of gravity of the SXD2 is below the intersection point of the RA and DEC axes. This means you need fewer additional counterweights. Latitude setting The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium and low latitudes); latitude scale in 2-degree increments; fine adjustment with a tangent screw head, approx. 0.8 degrees per turn. Built-in PFL-II polar finder with illumination The built-in 5x20mm polar finder with 10° field of view has a 3-star alignment system. This eliminates the inconvenience of setting the date and original time. The illuminated reticle with variable brightness and automatic switch-off is adjustable in 8 levels and illuminated in red. The adjustment accuracy is 3 arc minutes. The wireless module in detail The Vixen Wifi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. With the smartphone app STAR BOOK Wireless (free of charge) you can navigate the sky without any cables. The app turns your smartphone or tablet into a control unit for the equatorial mount in no time at all. The response delay of the mount, which is considered the biggest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to wired connections. Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controllers with LCD monitor The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, allowing longer observations than with conventional wired controllers such as the STAR BOOK TEN. Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN controller. The STAR BOOK Wireless app has a similar structure to the STAR BOOK TEN controller. Depending on the star map setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap on a celestial object in the object list and start the GoTo. The mount will now automatically move to this target and bring it into the telescope's field of view. All the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained Convenient operation When looking through the telescope operate the mount by swiping on the app's star chart. As there are no buttons, simply slide your finger over the star chart to operate the mount conveniently. Extensive astronomical data included In addition to data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects and IC objects, this also includes the sun, moon, planets, comets and dwarf planets. High-precision alignment By aligning the mount to one or two stars, you can already achieve fairly precise positioning. By aligning the mount to three or more stars, you can achieve high-precision alignment of the mount for high magnifications. The objects are then approached precisely and centrally in your telescope's field of view. The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is switched off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after completing an observation without moving it, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings for the next observation.  Individual setting options As with the STAR BOOK TEN control unit, the app offers various individual settings, such as gear backlash compensation, night mode in red, autoguider and variable GoTo speed and LED brightness. You can also set the timing of the reversal of the objective tube (meridian flip) as desired. Even if the object moves to the south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing. Important note: Cannot be used on old SX mounts with the old blue Star Book! Technical information about the Wifi module: CPU with 32-bit CISC processor 120 MHz The unit is connected to the mount via a D-SUB 9PIN connector as with the STAR BOOK TEN. It has a 6-pin 6-wire modular plug for external autoguider operation. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 2" CLS Nebula Filter
Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum. These colours - in the case of the EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CLS nebula filter, above all the typical colours of mercury and high-pressure lamps, used in street lighting - are suppressed, but the emissions of deep-sky objects are allowed through. With a slightly brightened sky, some relatively bright deep-sky objects are practically invisible with a telescope, for example the large galaxy M101. Using this filter makes observation much easier. A must have for any visual amateur astronomer.  The CLS can also be used as a useful photographic filter - helping to improve the quality of your telescopic deep sky photos. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC nebula filters are delivered with an individual test report - so you can be sure of receiving high-quality filters.SPECIFICATIONS:eliminates disturbing light - e.g. from street lightingenables observation of faint deep sky objectsWHAT'S INCLUDED:1x nebula filter
