FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

That is normal. Finder scopes are only used to make objects easy to locate. The image orientation does not matter for observation.

  • Alt-azimuth: easy to use, moves horizontally and vertically
  • Equatorial: enables precise tracking of objects with only one axis – ideal for high magnifications and astrophotography

  • Moon: from 30 mm
  • Planets: from 100 mm
  • Deep sky: from 150 mm

Warning notes
  • General safety instructions DANGER Risk of eye injuries! Never look directly at the sun or near the sun through this device. There is a risk of blindness! Children should only use the device under supervision. Keep packaging materials (plastic bags, rubber bands, etc.) away from children! There is a risk of suffocation! FIRE HAZARD! Do not expose the device especially the lenses to direct sunlight! The light concentration could cause fires. RISK of material damage! Do not dismantle the device! In case of a defect, please contact your dealer. They will contact the service center and may send the device in for repair. Do not expose the device to temperatures above 60°C!
  • Never look at the sun through an eyepiece/telescope without a certified protection filter. A moon filter can never be used for solar observation. The moon filter is only suitable for moon observation. The solar filter must be mounted in front of the telescope opening, not at the eyepiece. Otherwise, the concentrated light beam through the optics will immediately destroy the filter foil, leading to severe eye damage, including permanent blindness.
  • Never leave the optics unattended. Children and inexperienced adults could point the telescope at the sun without proper precautions and lose their eyesight.
  • Do not expose the device to high temperatures.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 3" 0.7x Reducer/corrector
The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 3" 0.7x Reducer/corrector, reduces a compatible telescope's focal length by a factor of 0.7x (for around f/8) and 0.8x (for around f/10) respectively. The reducer/corrector not only reduces the focal length but also flattens the field. Although originally developed for the Explore Scientific ED-APOs 127mm and 152mm, the reducer can be used with many systems - for example with the Explore Scientific ED-APOs 102mm and 165mm (please note, this will not work on the Explore Scientific 80mm ED Apo refractors though). With certain telescope focal lengths, a slight restriction of the correction at the edge of the image field can be expected when using full-frame sensors. This unit comes with 3" barrel adaptor for direct focuser thread M54x0.75 (the standard focuser thread of the Explore Scientific Essential series of ED Apos) and T2 camera adaptor. This reducer/corrector features a free aperture of 65mm, so that it can be used even with cameras that have a large sensor - if the telescope allows for this. Note: As previously mentioned, this Reducer/corrector comes with a screw on ring, which fits the standard focuser thread of the Explore Scientific Essential series of ED Apos. For telescopes which are equipped with the 2.5" HEX Focuser, the optional screw-on adapter part no: 0510366 is needed. Other telescopes, not in the Explore Scientific range, with standard 2" push-fit focusers will need the Explore Scientific 2" Adaptor for 3" Corrector - part no: 0510364 to get this reducer correctly fitted. SPECIFICATIONS Reduces the focal length by 0.7x at f/8 Flattens the field for astrophotography Developed for ED127 und ED152 APO telescopes Also fits Explore Scientific ED102 and ED165 telescopes - and others Free aperture: 65mm Inner thread for telescope adaption: M76x0.75mm Outer thread for camera adaption: M72x0.75mm 3" focuser barrel adaptor included Adaptor for Explore Scientific focuser M54x0.75mm included T2 camera adaptor M42x0.75mm included Diameter: 78.5mm; length: 100mm Length without adaptors: 52mm Weight without adaptors: 530g What's Included Reducer/Flattener 3" focuser barrel adaptor Adaptor for Focuser M54x0.75mm T2 camera adaptor M42x0.75mm Dust caps

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 82° Ar Eyepiece 11mm (1,25")
Explore Scientific 82° Series™ extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope. To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves. All 82° Series eyepieces are fully multi-coated and edge-blackened to produce maximum contrast.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 1.25" H-Beta Nebula Filter
One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects bejond the solar systems enourmously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artifical light. The Explore Scientific H-beta filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emmission nebulae. Those objekcts glow in special colors, the so called emmission lines. Those emmission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen. The Explore Scientific H-beta nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the emmission line of the hydrogen can pass the filter. The result is astonoishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely empty without filters. In suburbian skies for example the horsehead nebula is almost not visible with a 300mm telescope. By using this filter you can see the nebula and its structures without problems. A must for every visual observer. The Explore Scientific nebula filters come with a individual test certificate - your guarantee to receive a premium filter.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC Filter Set 1 Moon & Planets from 50mm (2'')
Filter Set 1 is recommended for Moon & Planets from 50mm (2'') Aperture Set 1 includes the following filters: Explore Scientific Filter 1.25" Light Yellow No.8 - 0310268 Watching the Moon surface through the filter, the contrasts will enormously increase. Same with planet Mars. On the huge planet Jupiter, when using the filter, you can even see the contrasts between the cloud-bands and a lot more details. Starting with a telescope diameter of 8“ and a clear sight, you even get to see various details of Saturn. Explore Scientific Filter 1.25" Orange No.21 - 0310273 This one really supports the detection of the dark areas on the planet Mars. The details of the clouds of Saturn and Jupiter are also so much more visible through the Filter. Explore Scientific Filter 1.25" Blue No.80A - 0310264 The color of light blue really supports watching the high clouds on Mars. The contrast increases. The dark red structures will be shown even darker, so this is the perfect filter for watching the big red Flecks on the gas planet Jupiter. The rings of Saturn will be accentuated, the structures of the Venus Atmosphere will be even finer. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 1.25" Filter Grey ND0.9 - 0310245 The neutral density filter transmits light uniformly across the entire visual spectrum. It serves as an excellent filter to reduce glare and irradiation when observing the Moon with any telescope 4"(10.2cm) and larger. The ND96 filter may also be employed in the splitting of close double stars where one of the binary pair significantly exceeds the other in brightness. What ist a color Filter for and do we really need it? Color Filters darken the light slightly, that reaches the eye or the sensor of the camera. This eliminates for instance stronger transitions. The result is that your picture turns out with more contrast which automatically shows more details. BRESSER USB Motor Focuser for HEX and R&P
The BRESSER USB Motor Focuser for HEX and R&P lets you achieve pinpoint focus on your telescope remotely and without any physical contact – whether you're enjoying a casual visual session or pushing the limits of astrophotography. The EAF works with hexagonal (HEX), rack-and-pinion (R&P) and most other standard focusers, connects in seconds via USB-C, and gives you the choice between manual control via the hand controller and fully automated focusing through your astro software of choice. Hands-off focusing via hand controller The included wired hand controller lets you dial in focus from a distance without laying a finger on the telescope. For astrophotography, this is a genuine game-changer: imaging sessions run uninterrupted and your focus stays locked in from first light to the end of the night. Visual observers will appreciate it just as much – precise focus adjustments on demand, no fumbling in the dark. Autofocus and broad software compatibility The EAF integrates smoothly with the most popular astro software packages. The ASCOM driver covers the vast majority of Windows-based applications, while full INDI and INDIGO support makes it equally at home on Mac and Linux. If your software includes an autofocus routine, the motor will handle everything automatically – a real asset for long, unattended imaging runs.Temperature sensor for sharp results all night long As the night progresses, temperature drops can cause the telescope tube and optics to contract slightly – enough to nudge your focus point off target. The included temperature sensor tracks these changes continuously and, paired with compatible software, compensates for any thermally induced focus shift on the fly. The result: consistently sharp images from dusk till dawn, with no manual intervention required. Please note: The temperature sensor and hand controller cannot be used at the same time. FEATURES Precise electronic motor focuser Plug and Play via USB-C Compatible with HEX, R&P and most standard focusers ASCOM, INDI and INDIGO driver support for maximum software compatibility Autofocus support via third-party software Manual focusing via hand controller Temperature sensor to compensate for thermally induced focus shift Robust aluminium housing SCOPE OF DELIVERY Electric motor focuser Mounting plates Wired hand controller Screws Washers Flexible couplings USB cable Temperature sensor Allen key Manual

BRESSER Nebula 6 EQ/AZ Wifi-Network Mount
The new BRESSER Nebula 6 EQ/AZ Wifi-Network Mount is a precise and quiet telescope mount – ideal for astrophotography. The controller box offers numerous central connection options for various accessories such as cameras, filter wheels, and motor focusers via USB (2.0/3.0), simplifying the setup of a professional astro-photography machine. BRESSER relies on innovation paired with quality Made in Italy for this top-class product. The long-standing experience of the manufacturer in mount construction guarantees a high-end device with first-class functionality and highest reliability. Additionally, the in-house development team for hardware and software in Italy ensures quick response times in technical support and the adaptation of new device drivers. True to the motto "Professionals at work!" The mount is controlled via pre-installed web app software, accessible via Wifi and an Ethernet cable connection. The philosophy behind the Nebula GoTo system is to provide the user with a control system independent of a normal PC, which can be remotely controlled in all its functions via a smart device such as a mobile phone or tablet. However, this does not exclude the traditional use of computers of all types and brands, which can be connected to the system either wired or wirelessly. The BRESSER Nebula GoTo System Controller is a Raspberry Pi 4 microcomputer, which allows complete control of the setup (mount, camera, etc.) without the need for any other external device. The BRESSER Nebula GoTo system is already equipped with all Linux-based applications necessary for performing all astrophotographic functions. The existing INDI environment allows the control of almost all devices (cameras, filter wheels, rotators, including observatory domes), necessary for conducting local or remote astrophotography sessions. The system also offers high flexibility for users who prefer to use traditional computer client applications such as Cart du Ciel (Star Chart), TheSkyX, SkySafari, Stellarium, and other planetarium programs as well as SGP, Nina, CCD Ciel, and other astrophotography tools. This complete compatibility is ensured through the adoption of the Alpaca communication protocol, which allows the use of traditional ASCOM platform drivers for native INDI devices. State-of-the-art mount construction The BRESSER Nebula mounts are CNC-manufactured from stainless steel and aluminum. The simple and functional design is thanks to a renowned Italian mount manufacturer, who has designed and now also manufactures these fine BRESSER products 100%. So, look forward to a stable yet easily transportable mount, which despite its light weight of only 16 kg (including tripod) allows a high load capacity of up to 25 kg. Visual Observation For visual observation and direct use, control the mount with the hand control box included in the package. Alternatively, connect the Nebula 6 via WLAN directly to your smartphone or tablet and use the virtual hand control box. Of course, all adjustment parameters can also be adjusted via the web application. The user interface is deliberately simple and clear to ensure intuitive operation. Astrophotography Here, the Nebula mount shows its full strength. Whether mobile or stationary, remote capability is crucial. Connect your laptop or PC either via WLAN or with an Ethernet cable (recommended for faster data transfer) directly to the Raspberry-Pi control unit of the mount. Then use the pre-installed software Kstars/EKOS to control the mount and all external devices such as cameras, motor focus, filter wheel, etc. Alternatively, you can also directly control the unit with your own software. Applications such as Cart du Ciel (Star Chart), TheSkyX, SkySafari, Stellarium, and other planetarium programs as well as SGP, Nina, CCD Ciel, and other astrophotography tools can be used without any issues. 2-in-1 Mount with EQ and AZ Mode If required, the Nebula can be switched from the equatorial mode to the azimuthal mode. This is particularly advantageous for observing nature or tracking satellites. Thus, the mount can be used for various applications and is not limited to astronomy only. Attachment of up to two optics Would you like to adapt multiple optics? No problem. Simply use the option to replace the counterweight bar with another telescope. Use the second optic simply as a counterweight to the main telescope. Set the Nebula 6 to azimuthal mode, remove the counterweight bar, and screw on an extension adapter with a suitable second telescope clamp directly to the mount. FEATURES Precise and quiet telescope mount – ideal for astrophotography Extensive connection options for various accessories via USB Integrated web app software enables central control of all components Integrated Raspberry Pi with USB-3 ports and Ethernet port Compatible with client applications such as Cart du Ciel (Star Chart), TheSkyX, SkySafari, Stellarium Compatible with SGP, Nina, CCD Ciel, and other astrophotography tools Virtual hand control box and settings menu for smartphones and tablets PC control – ASCOM and INDI compatible USB ports for cameras, motors, filter wheels etc. Conversion from parallactic to azimuthal mode possible Small hand box for basic functions included High load capacity yet lightweight Mount CNC-manufactured from stainless steel and aluminum Tooth belt drive for precise and quiet tracking Load capacity: 18 kg in EQ mode and 25 kg in AZ mode Dual-prism clamping for the attachment of Vixen GP and Losmandy Weight of the mount: 11 kg Weight of the tripod: 5 kg SCOPE OF DELIVERY Nebula 6 EQ/AZ Mount Field tripod Central control unit with Raspberry Pi Counterweight: 6 kg (1 piece) Basic hand box Connection cables Power supply 230V/12V/3A

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC ED APO 127mm f/7,5 FCD-100 Alu HEX
Highly corrected 127 mm air-spaced triplet apochromat (with three lenses) and aluminium tube and a 2.5'' high-precision HEXAFOC focuser. NEW: Now with hybrid viewfinder shoe to accept different viewfinder holders. Apochromats are the ultimate choice in small to medium-sized telescopes: the combination of compactness, transportability, very high image contrast and sharpness together with the possibility to make excellent astrophotos cannot be bested. The advances in glass manufacturing during the last few years have made true apochromats available to more astronomy enthusiasts than ever before. The new Explore Scientific FCD-100 Alu Hex represents another major improvement in this field - the overall correction (colour and spherical) is setting new standards in this price class. The optical design shows a polystrehl value of 0.97 indicating a level of correction that is absolutely top of the line. This excellent apochromat is a very versatile telescope: the fast f-ratio makes short exposure times possible. The high contrast and sharpness of the image provide breathtaking views of large objects like the North America nebula or the Andromeda Galaxy, as well as tack sharp planetary images. The telescope is lightweight and compact - the dew shield slides down the tube to minimize size for transportation. Revolutionary glass and precision manufacturing created a telescope that offers observing joy on the highest level. This does not only qualify this telescope as the ideal travel scope, it is also the perfect choice for fast observations and for astrophotography. The excellent 2,5'' HEXAFOC focuser with 10:1 reduction is perfect for this - the large inner diameter of 65 mm prevents vignetting by the focuser when the telescope is used for astrophotography with large sensors. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC Ultra Light Dobsonian 305mm GENERATION II
Ultra Light Dobsonian 305mm GENERATION II - with completely redesigned and improved construction. No telescope type has influenced amateur astronomy as radically as the dobsonian telescope. Before the introduction of this telescope type by John Dobson the vast majority of amateur telescopes were small inadequate refractors on shaky mounts - just good enough to show the polar regions on mars or the rings of Saturn. Bigger telescopes, like the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, were restricted to the relatively small group of amateurs that could afford them. The brilliant combination of simple - but effective - mechanics and the largest aperture available led to a worldwide triumph of this concept. No other telescope type offers you so much light for your money as a good dobson. We have taken the motto "held together by gravity and driven by yoghurt power" and offer a modern version of the classic - designed by amateur astronomers for amateur astronomers. Despite its large aperture the telescope can be transported easily even in small cars and is assembled within minutes without tools. The construction was optimized for maximum rigidity with a minimum of mass. The combination of big altitude wheels and a optimized aluminium-sandwich construction allows for small movements even at high magnifications. The focus position is already positioned to accept our coma-corrector. The ideal workhorse for the deep-sky enthusiast. A telescope with 305mm aperture gathers more than 1800-times more light than the naked eye. Details on planetary surfaces stand out even to unexperienced observers, and countless deep-sky objects show details. Bright globular clusters are resolved down to the core and the view of the lunar terminator will provide a unforgettable experience.Dimensions for mobile use: Rockerbox 450mmx450mmx320mm; Mirrorbox 380mmx380mmx300mm; Trusses approx. 980mmEyepiece Height while pointing at zenith approximately 1,4m.12“ Net total weight: 32,1 kg; 12“ Mirror Box: 18,9 kg; 12“ Secondary cage +Rockerbox: 10 kg; 12“ 4 Pairs of trusses: 1,8kg; 12“ Altitude Wheels: 1,4kg ; Focuser thread: M54 x 0.75 mm ; Backfocus: 45mm behind the 2" eyepiece holder. 35mm when the 1.25" adapter is mountedSPECIFICATIONS Truss-Dobsonian Telescope in full Aluminium constructionNEW: Slider bearings made from TEFLON und GFK for smooth and precise movementNEW: Improved main mirror cell with completely redesigned mechanicsNEW: Altitude bearings with new designed brake and friction systemNEW: Larger feet to improve stabilityNEW: Universal finder slot to enable an easy finder upgradeNEW: Counter-weight system included - 2 x 1.0 kg NEW: Quick-lock fasteners with new springloaded design for comfortable useNEW: Powder-coated yellow altitude wheels to improve durabilityNEW: Laser engraved central mark on main mirrorSCOPE OF DELIVERYTruss Dobsonian TelescopeLED finder with standard finder slotStray light shield for secondary cageMain mirror collimation toolBattery compartment with bag for fansCounter-weights 2 x 1.0 kgExtension tube for focuserReducer 2"/1.25"Manual
