FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:

  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

BRESSER Full HD Deep-Sky Camera & Guider 1.25"
BRESSER Full HD Deep Sky Camera with autoguider: a great camera for different types of astrophotography and for autoguiding. Not only suitable for planets, but also for deep-sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. Dedicated ToupSky Astro Imaging software supports video preview, video recording, video processing, image capture and processing, dark field correction and raw data output. Easy to use, but with professional results. One of the main features of the new backlit SONY IMX290 CMOS sensor is its high light sensitivity, which makes it possible to detect deep-sky objects without active cooling. SONY has increased the quantum efficiency at 533 nm wavelength up to 77%, which is much better than other CMOS sensors have been able to achieve in the past. Connect this camera to a guidescope and attach the camera's built-in ST-4 port, directly to your telescope's equatorial mount guide port and autoguide - using many popular audioguiding programs (PHD, Guidedog and more). Autoguiding enables you to take accurate pictures with long exposure times of several minutes. Thanks to the extra light-sensitive camera, you now always have a suitable guide star to hand, even using short exposure times. An ST-4 protocol connection cable is also included. Simple automatic tracking at its best. You can use this camera with all guiding telescopes, or off-axis guiders that accept a 1.25 " tube, 1.25" filter thread (M28.5x0.6) or C-mount adapter thread (1 "x1 /32"). IMPORTANT NOTES: This is not a stand-alone guider camera. You always need a Windows 10/11 computer to take pictures and for autoguiding. The autoguider software is not included. Quotation from BestBinocularReviews review: Image sharpness, distortions and blur: The extremely low blur at the image edges is an absolute highlight with these Bresser binoculars and I did not notice any distortions in the image such as image bulges. Conclusion: In my experience and after comparing them with my comparative binoculars, I would rate the view through these Bresser binoculars as very good for a mid-range 10x42 binocular and they can compete well with some higher end, more expensive products. I would rate the overall image sharpness as good compared to an Alpha level unit and very good compared to units in its class. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 4K DEEP SKY ASTRO Camera & Guider 8,3 MP II
Enter the world of astrophotography now - with the new EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 4K DEEP SKY ASTRO Camera including ST4 autoguider function. This is truly new: Equipped with the new high-sensitive IMX585 Exmor CMOS colour sensor, this astronomy camera delivers amazing image results with extremely short exposure times even with basic telescope equipment. In addition, this ultra-modern camera can also be used as an autoguider, e.g. to actively track the main imaging device with an SLR or CCD astro camera. An all-round camera that delivers super-sharp and high-resolution planetary images. The high 4K resolution of 3840x2160 pixels guarantees the best possible image result. Sensor The secret to the high light sensitivity is the new back illuminated Exmor CMOS sensor. It increases the quantum efficiency to up to 77 % at 533 nm, which leads to an extremely high light sensitivity and thus particularly bright and high-contrast photos. In addition, the particularly low noise level of this new CMOS sensor generation ensures exceptionally high brilliance and no active cooling is required. Nevertheless, this astro camera has an elaborate internal structure made of aluminium for ideal heat radiation and a fan that can be switched on via software. When used with suitable telescopes, the high native pixel resolution of 3840x2160 enables very nice overview images of the moon, but also detailed planetary images. Solar Imaging This camera is also recommended for solar astro-photography. Especially the Lunt LS40 THa solar telescopes (item No. 0551145/0551146/0551147), with their short focal length, allow in combination with this planetary camera with its large sensor great overview images of the sun. Important Note: When observing and taking photos of the sun, always use a suitable protective solar filter or a special solar telescope. Otherwise there is a risk of immediate blindness and damage to the camera. Software The included Explore Capture professional software offers not only the necessary basic functions for image and video capture, but also many helpful special functions for image post-processing and for setting up the guider. Functions such as live image display, exposure settings, white balance, dark image capture, stacking, timelapse recording and much more can be configured individually. Especially the very sophisticated software makes it really easy for you to get started in astrophotography. With the automatic settings you can produce absolutely presentable results without a lot of prior knowledge. And when you are ready, simply switch off the automatic settings and gradually venture into the individual professional settings. Automatic tracking control Connect the camera directly to the ST4 port of your telescope mount and you have a fully automatic tracking control. Thus, long exposures of several minutes are possible without the stars producing unwanted star traces due to the always existing periodic error of the telescope mount gears. A corresponding ST-4 connection cable is even included in the camera's scope of delivery. Because of the high light sensitivity of the camera, you will always find a suitable guide star even with very short exposure times. Simple automatic tracking at its best. Connection For the connection to telescopes, guiding scopes or off-axis guiders the camera has a 1.25'' socket with 1.25'' filter thread (M28.5x0.6) and a large T2 connection thread (M42x0.75) directly on the housing. IMPORTANT NOTES: This is not a stand-alone guider camera. You always need a Windows 10 or 11 computer to take pictures and for autoguiding. The autoguider software is not included.
