Every eyepiece is equipped with a foldable rubber eyecup to avoid straylight from the sides and the inner eyepiece shaft is carefully blackened as well. With the usage of barlow lenses, you can extend the equivalent focal length of telescopes and hence increase the magnification of your observed targets.
