FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
- No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
- Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
- Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.
Product information "BRESSER Stereo Microscope Science ETD-301 7-63x Trinocular Zoom with MikroCam PRO HDMI Autofocus Microscope Camera"
The microscope in detail
The BRESSER Science ETD-301 is a reflected and transmitted light stereo microscope with high-quality optics.
It is suitable for use in medicine, agriculture and forestry, criminology, scientific research institutes and schools, as well as for assembling and inspecting small components in precision mechanics and electronics.
The particularly wide base with stage makes it possible to view larger objects. The maximum object height is approx. 85 mm. The large working distance of 100 mm allows work with tools, e.g. for preparing or dissecting, measuring or testing.
The instrument has LED reflected and transmitted light illumination, which can be used individually or in combination and each can be adjusted steplessly. The incident light angle is especially user-friendly and adjustable. With interchangeable widefield eyepieces (WF10x) and a 9x stereo zoom objective (0.7x - 6.3x), a continuous magnification range from 7x to 63x is achieved.
The coarse and fine focusing enables precise focusing, especially at high magnifications and for photography.
The interpupillary distance and dioptre adjustment are individually adjustable. The trinocular microscope head can be rotated 360° and has two eyepiece tubes inclined at 45°.
The trinocular tube can, using an optional adapter, carry a DSLR / system camera (APS-C or DX format) or a C-mount camera (sensor size up to 1''). By means of a switch, the beam path of one eyepiece is diverted to the camera. This provides 50% of the light, more than a microscope with a permanent beam splitter.
For connecting a DSLR / system camera, the adapter with Art. No. 5942100 and a camera-specific T2 ring are required.
A C-mount camera is connected with the adapter Art. No. 5942101.

The microscope camera in detail
The BRESSER MikroCam PRO HDMI Autofocus impresses with its excellent image quality combined with user-friendly operation. It delivers the microscope image live and without delay as an HDMI signal in Full HD resolution to a monitor or TV. An optional 11'' HDMI monitor (Art. No. 5914110) can be mounted directly onto the camera and provides brilliant, high-contrast images. Thanks to its very high light sensitivity, good image quality is ensured even in low light. This makes the model particularly recommended for dark field or phase contrast.
The autofocus allows the camera to be optimally focused without using the microscope's focusing knobs. This ensures parfocality on a wide range of trinocular microscopes. The focusing range extends from the 0 position, which corresponds to the C-mount distance, with a maximum focusing of 5.4 mm forward, thereby also achieving the CS-mount distance, and additionally up to 10.6 mm inward to cover an even wider range. In addition to autofocus, the camera can also be focused manually via mouse. Focus adjustment to a specific area is also possible.
Camera functions are controlled via mouse directly on the on-screen menu. Measurements can be carried out via the on-screen menu, turning your microscope with the MikroCam Pro HDMI Autofocus into a fully-fledged digital measuring microscope.
The MikroCam PRO HDMI Autofocus offers a wide range of applications, including:
- Documentation
- Evaluation
- Analysis
- Presentation
- Quality control
- Automation
- Machine vision
In addition, the camera can also provide the microscope view in a wireless network via WiFi module. If the camera is connected via HDMI, images and videos can be saved directly onto an SD card (not included). However, connection to a PC via USB is no longer intended with this model. For this, we recommend the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5914180.
