FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
- No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
- Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
- Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.
Product information "BRESSER Stereo Microscope Science ETD-301 7-63x Trinocular Zoom with MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP Microscope Camera and Full HD MINI HDMI Display (13.3")"
The microscope in detail
The BRESSER Science ETD-301 is a reflected and transmitted light stereo microscope with high-quality optics.
It is suitable for use in medicine, agriculture and forestry, criminology, scientific research institutes and schools, as well as for assembling and inspecting small components in precision mechanics and electronics.
The particularly wide base with stage allows for the viewing of larger objects. The maximum object height is approx. 85 mm. The large working distance of 100 mm makes it possible to work with tools, e.g. for preparing or dissecting, measuring or testing.
The instrument has LED reflected and transmitted light illumination, which can be used individually or in combination and each can be adjusted steplessly. The incident light angle is especially user-friendly and adjustable. With interchangeable widefield eyepieces (WF10x) and a 9x stereo zoom objective (0.7x - 6.3x), a continuous magnification range from 7x to 63x is achieved.
The coarse and fine focusing allows precise focusing, especially at high magnifications and for photography.
The interpupillary distance and dioptre adjustment are individually adjustable. The trinocular microscope head can be rotated 360° and has two eyepiece tubes inclined at 45°.
The trinocular tube can carry either a DSLR / system camera(APS-C or DX format) or a C-mount camera (sensor size up to 1'') using an optional adapter. By means of a switch, the beam path of one eyepiece is diverted to the camera. This provides 50% of the light, more than a microscope with a permanent beam splitter.
For connecting a DSLR / system camera, the adapter with Art. No. 5942100 and a camera-specific T2 ring are required.
A C-mount camera is connected with the adapter Art. No. 5942101.

The microscope camera in detail
The BRESSER MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP impresses with its excellent image quality combined with user-friendly operation. It delivers the microscope image live and without delay as an HDMI signal in Full HD resolution to a monitor or TV. An optional 11'' HDMI monitor (Art. No. 5914110) can be mounted directly onto the camera and provides brilliant, high-contrast images.
For high-resolution microphotos this camera features a high-quality Sony 5MP sensor, allowing images and videos to be saved to an SD card in higher resolution than Full HD.
Operation of the camera functions is done via mouse directly on the on-screen menu. Measurements can also be carried out via the on-screen menu, turning your microscope with the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5MP into a fully-fledged digital measuring microscope .
In addition, the camera can also provide the microscope view via WiFi module in a wireless network. However, connection to a PC via USB is no longer intended with this model. For this, we recommend the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5914180.
The professional MikroCamLabII software is still included, allowing images to be subsequently edited and analysed.

The display in detail
The Full HD display is the ideal addition to the BRESSER MikroCam Pro HDMI and MINI HDMI
The display can be mounted directly on the camera with an adjustable holder. The screen delivers brilliant images without artefacts, as the display has the same resolution as the camera's output image. With the combination of MikroCam and HDMI display, almost any trinocular microscope with a camera connection can be upgraded to a digital microscope. This makes observation possible without the need for a PC.
The size of the display has been optimally chosen so that the microscope user can continue working in the usual way while simultaneously viewing the image on the monitor. The display provides optimal image quality with a wide viewing angle of 178°! This allows several people to view the image without loss of quality.
The microscope camera image is always displayed on the HDMI screen without delay and with a high frame rate of 60 FPS. Display via an HDMI microscope camera on an HDMI monitor is therefore generally superior in quality to using a USB camera on a laptop or PC. This is particularly advantageous when work needs to be carried out under microscopic control.
Many users also benefit from the improved ergonomics of viewing the image on the HDMI display. Higher magnifications, with their high numerical aperture, can be uncomfortable for those with eye problems such as floaters. Digital viewing can provide relief here.
The display can be powered with the same power supply as the camera using the supplied Y-cable. A suitable short, angled HDMI cable is also included, helping to avoid cable clutter at the workstation. Mounting on a MikroCam PRO or MINI is carried out using two screws. Screws and tools are included.
